CAP Session: Client Interviews

August 26, 2016 @ 8:30 am - 10:30 am

Presentation through the Wayne County Criminal Advocacy Program

The initial client interview is the time to establish the trust and confidence that is critical to the attorney-client relationship. This session will cover best practices for conducting early interviews, and includes checklists for information that needs to be gathered during the first discussion with your client. The session will also detail how to use the information obtained to begin to investigate the case, how to navigate collateral consequences for your clients and encourage holistic representation.

The speaker for this session is Ashley A. Carter, Regional Consultant for the Michigan Indigent Defense Commission.  The session will be moderated by Marla R. McCowan, MIDC Director of Training, Outreach and Support.

No registration required.
