Position Available: Research Associate
We’re hiring! The MIDC is seeking a Research Associate.

Summary
The employee will service as a point of contact for indigent defense systems that need assistance with data collection or reporting. The Research Associate will interpret data results for the Research Director, Executive Director, and staff.
Required Education and Experience:
Education
Possession of a bachelor’s degree in any major.
Experience
- Departmental Analyst 9
No specific type or amount is required. - Departmental Analyst 10
One year of professional experience. - Departmental Analyst P11
Two years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate (10) level in state service. - Departmental Analyst 12
Three years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the experienced (P11) level in state service.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Commitment to indigent defense and social justice
- Embraces diversity and inclusion and understands the importance of what people bring to the
table - Ability to work with large amounts of information and see the “bigger picture”
- Comfortable with reviewing facts and figures, processing numerical data, and putting these pieces
together in a format that is easily understandable - Ability to analyze and interpret results of standard correlation and regression statistical methods
using programs such as R, Stata or SAS - Willingness to conduct surveys and focus groups (previous experience not required)
- Ability to compile and communicate information effectively in oral and written form
- Experience with data visualization, including demonstrable design knowledge, such as layout,
typography, color, interaction design and fluency in advanced Excel and other visualization
programs (Tableau, Canva, etc.) - Ability to document research and work processes
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work with partners across the criminal legal system
